“When the ocean breathe, we breathe…”
SEABORN NATION is a social, non-profit project that calls on like-minded individuals to unite for the Blue Planet. This group is for those who recognize the ocean as the territory of their vital interests. We are an independent collective, not subject to any government supervision or policy. The High Seas are the last remaining space for us on this planet.
We do not claim ownership over any land or sea surface, but as an existing oceanic society, we demand respect for the ocean. Our mission is to protect it from the destructive impact of entities that call themselves “states.” We have chosen the principles of the High Seas as the foundation and pledge of our freedom.
There is no doubt that most states continue to neglect the ongoing catastrophic degradation of the ocean. Ocean life is endangered by numerous human-driven factors—whether in territorial waters or the High Seas. The measures taken so far fall far short of what is truly needed.
Many people and organizations are striving to save the ocean, yet the situation continues to worsen. Many voices are raised, but remain ignored. As we can see, only the voice of a powerful organization or society is truly heard—one that can claim legal rights and fight for them.
We are a small group of enthusiasts, driven by the desire to create one more powerful social force to help protect the ocean. We are not asking for any financial support for our social project, SEABORN NATION. All we need is your voice, your opinions, your ideas. We are ready to collaborate. We believe that together, we can move in the right direction.
SEABORN NATION, founded as the Society of the High Seas, declares the following core principles for its existence and activities:
• The Society of the High Seas fully supports basic human rights.
• The creation of the Society of the High Seas (SEABORN NATION) fully aligns with the Convention on the High Seas (Geneva, 1958). We exercise the recognized freedom of the High Seas to declare them as the territory of our vital interests, without making claims to any specific part.
• The main duty of the Society is to protect the ocean with respect for the High Seas.
• We respect the territorial boundaries and laws of all states.
• Our general demand to all states is to take every possible measure to save and restore their own territorial seas as ecosystems—and to halt destructive influences on the ecosystems of the High Seas as well.
The objectives of the organization are:
• to promote knowledge about the ocean and its inhabitants;
• to protect open sea ecosystems, which are currently under significant anthropogenic pressure;
• to support the restoration of marine ecosystems, especially coastal seas, as their condition is crucial to the overall health of the ocean.
